Fent Sendera organizes the VIII Benifallet Pastisset Race on Sunday 22 January

The Associació Fent Sendera is organizing this Saturday, 22 January, the VIII Benifallet Pastisset Race, which will be the first scoring event of the tenth Terres de l'Ebre Mountain Racing Circuit. It arrives with the endorsement of the last edition on which it surpassed the 495 registered and a solidary collection of 40 kilos of clothes for International Solidarity Sport and of 1,200 euros for the League Against the Cancer of Terres de l'Ebre. This marked solidarity accent is one of the most significant aspects of this race that has very clear objectives: the care of the environment, the dissemination of the important natural and cultural heritage with the Serra de Cardó as the protagonist, the commitment for healthy living habits and solidarity, with the involvement of more than 200 volunteers and a whole village to make it possible.

If solidarity is one of the main elements of Lo Pastisset, so are the qualities and technical possibilities of its journey. This year, although the accumulated difference in altitude has been slightly reduced, the route of the absolute race has increased, from 29 km and 3,380 meters of difference in altitude. The queen test of Lo Pastisset, with departure and arrival at the summer track, passes through such emblematic places of the Serra de Cardó as the Roca Foradada and the Cova Lluminosa and reaches the village by the Racó de Costumà and the Coll de Motxo. The highest point is the Cruz de Santos, 906 meters. Another attraction of the race is the participation for the second consecutive year of the Catalan athlete Jessed Hernández, one of the most outstanding runners in the European field of mountain, ultratrail and vertical kilometer. Also present will be the Valencian Raquel Martínez Rodríguez, two-time Spanish champion for FEDME Regional Mountain Racing Teams with the Valencian team (2014 and 2015).

Lo Pastisset also includes a 18.3 km short race, from which the junior podium will start, with a cumulative drop of 1,956 meters. It is completed with two gears. The Long March, of 14.5 km and 892 meters of accumulated elevation gain, has among its attractions the fact of being able to contemplate the ancient town of Costumà. Finally, there is the Short March, 11.8 km and 808 meters of accumulated elevation gain, which is also the route of the cadet race.

A solidarity point enabled during the race

Throughout the day, Lo Pastisset will have a solidarity point installed on the summer track, place of departure and arrival, where the clothes that will be sent to Esport Solidari and this year also to the Tortosa Red Cross will be collected. The race also, as every year, collaborates with the Terres de l'Ebre Cancer League with the "handmade surprise sale" and the draw for a dinner for two at the restaurant Les Moles d'Ulldecona. In addition, the event also supports Reto Trail, a platform for solidarity sports challenges.

It should also be noted that throughout the day there will be activities for the little one on the summer track with inflatables and other games (participatory workshops). At the end, as every year, participants will be able to taste a succulent lunch prepared by the Association of Wonder Women of Benifallet. On the other hand, the race has all the necessary services and there will be different parking spaces in the municipality conveniently signposted.

Finally, remember that registrations will close on January 18 or once the 480 registrants have been reached.

The VII Benifallet Cake Race is organized by the Associació Fent Sendera, with the collaboration of Benifallet City Council and a good number of sponsors and there are more than 200 volunteers who will make it possible.
